Interval training is one of the method to improve your pace & heart rate. It's a combination of fast & slow pace for a few cycles. I did mine by having 10 minutes warm up, 5 cycles of 1 minute speed & 4 minutes recovery, 10 minutes cool down. That would take about 45 minutes. If you have a running watch, you can set the reminder and intensity which could guide you throughout the run. You may start with this and then shorten the recovery time as you gain more stamina.
